Unit 6 The Integral Assessment

The integral assessment has made me aware the stress that I have put on myself by over reacting to the responsibilities I have with balancing school and work.  Being a single parent can sometimes be hard work because I have to take full responsibility of not only my own self but my children need me as well.  I have to go to work 5 days a week in order to support my household and I have made the choice to further my education because I want to be able to provide a better living and work in a field in which I am happy with my job.  There comes a time when I feel like I have taken on too much and I get frustrated.  Listening to the exercise made see how letting go of my frustration can ease my thinking so that I can focus better on my outcomes.
Motivation is where I need to focus on growth and development.  I feel motivated some days and other days my mind is not focused which causes me to feel stressed.  To implement specific exercise s or activities I must first allow myself time to d so.  The exercises that we have been participating in throughout this course so far is helping me to choose which exercise I would like to continue practicing as well as blending in a daily physical exercise plan.  I think part of my problem is I am so busy worrying and making sure everyone else is alright that I don’t take the time to focus on what I need to do for myself.  If I don’t make a change there is no one that can do it for me so I need to do it for myself.

I agree trying to balance work and school is a chore in itself let alone adding kids in the mix. I am fortunate enough that I do not have kids at home. They are grown. But trying to balance work and school at my age is enough and working through this class has helped me to understand not to let the stress get to me because that just makes things worse. We have to learn to deal with liefs every day issues so we can move forward and I think that is what working toward integral health is all about. It will be something I will continue to work on even after this class is over.

You just hang in there and all good things will come as we work through the process or reaching our goals in life.

I think motivation is something that can be wonderful and than again not there at all but someone told me- do your best everyday because not every day will be your best day. I think this is really true in all areas of life, at home, work, social, in a marrage and even when you are making the time to work out not all of them will be great but it is by keeping going that makes people better.
Keep going and I am sure that you will find a groove that works for you, most days ;)
    Best Wishes~

  3. Hi Lori,
I couldn't agree with you more on so many of the points you make in this post. Finding an agreeable work/life balance that contributes to everyone you have to care for is one of the toughest tasks to manage in life. Having the courage to assess where you are in terms of the 4 levels of development and seeking to improve your outcomes is impressive. Keep up the good work and don't be afraid to take a break when you need one, even if it's only for a few hours, make them count.
